An enforcement warning notice (EWN) formalises the process whereby a local planning authority (LPA) can invite a retrospective planning application for development that has taken place without permission.
The EWN explains:
- What the LPA believes the breach is.
- What action is expected.
- The deadline for submitting a retrospective application.
If the application is not submitted by the date specified, the LPA may proceed with formal enforcement action. There is no right of appeal against an EWN.
