Your LPA has to decide if your application is “valid”. i.e. it has all the necessary plans and other documentation needed to decide your application. Once satisfied, they will then send you or your agent a letter which is a formal acknowledgement of the application which will include a planning application reference number. The process of determining your application then starts. The LPA has targets for the time taken to make its decision. For almost all Gypsy and Traveller sites this is 8 weeks. However, most applications take a lot longer. If this is the case, then the LPA will need to agree an extension of time.
